Cytex Authenticator
Multi-Factor Auth & Encrypted VPN Mobile App
Company overview
Organizations faced escalating threats, weak password-based authentication, and no reliable way to secure remote access to internal networks. Cytex set out to combine strong authentication and encrypted access under a Zero Trust model.
The business challenge
What we were trusted to solve.
Organizations faced escalating cybersecurity threats, weak password-based authentication systems, and no reliable mechanism for ensuring secure remote access to internal enterprise networks.
Our solution
Developed a secure mobile authentication app combining MFA with encrypted VPN access, implementing a Zero Trust security model to protect users, devices, and all network interactions end-to-end.
Technical constraints
The guardrails we designed within.
Zero Trust posture
No implicit trust — every user, device, and request verified.
Usable security
Strong protection that people would actually adopt daily.
End-to-end encryption
Remote access had to be encrypted from device to network.
Discovery process
Mapping the real system before touching it.
- 01
Threat modeling
Mapped the attack surface for authentication and remote access.
- 02
Zero Trust design
Defined verification at every boundary, not just the perimeter.
Architecture decisions
How it fits together.
A React Native app combines multi-factor authentication with an encrypted VPN under a Zero Trust model — protecting users, devices, and every network interaction end to end.
Zero Trust everywhere — Every interaction is verified — no implicit network trust.
MFA + VPN in one — Authentication and encrypted access unified in a single app.
Technology stack
What it runs on.
Implementation timeline
From discovery to production.
Weeks 1–2
Threat modeling & design
Mapped the attack surface and Zero Trust boundaries.
Weeks 3–9
App build
MFA, encrypted VPN, and verification flows.
Weeks 10–12
Hardening & release
Security review and rollout.
Key features
What shipped.
Multi-factor authentication
Strong, usable authentication for every login.
Encrypted VPN access
Secure remote access to internal networks.
Results & performance
The outcome, measured.
Enterprise access became fundamentally more secure — strong authentication and Zero Trust protection in one app users actually adopt.
Security considerations
Zero Trust architecture, multi-factor authentication, and end-to-end encryption protect users, devices, and network interactions. Security was the product, verified throughout delivery.
Cytex ensures secure access with advanced authentication and Zero Trust protection — our enterprise security posture is fundamentally stronger.
Lessons learned
What we'd tell the next team.
Usable security wins. The strongest model only matters if people adopt it — usability was a security decision.
